In this position, you will play a key role in shaping project proposals, working closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, competitive, and well-structured estimates.
Role Overview
As a BMS Estimating Engineer, your core responsibility will be to produce detailed cost estimates and support early-stage design for smart building technology projects. You will collaborate with engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure all proposals align with the project brief and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for smart building and BMS projects
Review technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation
Source and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
Produce clear, accurate, and competitive bid proposals
Identify commercial and technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
Engage proactively with clients during the tender and proposal stage
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related documentation
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and key stakeholders
The Ideal Candidate
3 to 5 years’ experience within a BMS-focused role
Strong technical understanding of BMS, HVAC, AV, IT networks, and lighting control systems
Confident using industry-standard estimating tools and Microsoft Office applications
Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management is desirable
Previous experience in design, installation, or commissioning environments is advantageous
